She loves to be the center of attention and will definitely let you know that! She also loves cat treats (the way to her heart).
As for Peppi and Elsa, they may be small but they are all bark AND bite. These two have assumed the title of the shelter security, letting us know we have visitors! So beware of the two, they don't like to be bothered, so please do not tease them. Elsa does love treats and Peppi will sing with you if asked! |

About Robeson County Humane Society
The Robeson County Humane Society has been a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit since December 1990. Our Friends for Life shelter currently operates at 3180 W 5th Street in Lumberton, NC and has been operating at this location since March 2007. We are a licensed, no kill, non profit animal shelter/rescue in Robeson County.
*We are not associated or affiliated with the ASPCA or HSUS nor do receive any funding from them. We regularly care for approximately 35 dogs and 25 cats (give or take) until they find their furever home, all the while continuously trying our best to take in what we can and help our community. We are a 7 day-a-week operation receiving limited financial support from our local governments, meaning that we rely heavily on the help of our community, donors, and volunteers to help provide the necessary care for our pets and to keep this operation going. That includes vet care, socialization, supplies, monetary donations, utilities, maintenance, and salaries.

In 2004 the Robeson County Humane Society began to administer a North Carolina state Spay/Neuter program to help the low-income pet owners in our community. Since then, we have helped over 6000 animals receive sterilization, preventing thousands of unwanted pets and their undeserving fate of euthanasia at the county animal control facility. The state of North Carolina does not consistently provide 100% reimbursement for RCHS expenditures, therefore further funding is needed to continue this program.
Letter from the RCHS Team
They say love cannot be bought, and in most circumstances, I would agree with that philosophy. In the case of pet adoption, I will make an exception. When you adopt a pet, you are saving a life, sometimes several, and gaining a lifetime companion. Adopting a pet provides a home, healthcare, and love to an animal in need. It frees a spot for another to takes its place as it too waits for his/her human to come along. Adoption also makes a dent in the puppy mill industry where animals are bred constantly in sometimes cruel, filthy conditions. When they can no longer breed the animal is killed and tossed out like garbage or dumped alive to fend for itself. The puppies from these facilities are often sickly and may have genetic issues. Think long and hard before you purchase a pet from someone who breeds animals this way. While it is true that there are reputable breeders of specific breeds and there is an important place for breeders who keep specific breeds from becoming extinct; the vast majority of backyard breeders are interested in quick money accomplished through volume. If a deal on an animal seems too good to be true, it is. Reputable breeders know that their animals can command top prices. The animals are registered, have vet records that prove medical care, are kept in pristine conditions, and receive love and socialization. If a specific breed is what you desire, then make sure you seek out a reputable breeder. If your main goal is a wonderful, loving family companion then look no further than your local rescue. I myself am partial to the Robeson County Humane Society. We have beautiful, sweet, fur-babies that are eagerly waiting for a loving family to take them home. They come here for all sorts of reasons. Maybe the owner is moving, being deployed, has died, or is too sick to provide care for their pet. Sometimes it is from a cruelty or abuse situation. Occasionally it is because of the puppy mill horrors mentioned previously. In Robeson County it is often due to a lack of spay/neuter of pets who keep having litters. When adopting a pet, you get priceless, lifetime love…at a bargain. RCHS |
